METAL EFFECTS PRIMER

METAL EFFECTS® PRIMER is an excellent water-based acrylic primer designed to prevent METAL EFFECTS® BLUE/GREEN PATINA and METAL EFFECTS® RUST ACTIVATOR from reaching the metal substrate (when direct oxidation of the metal is not desired) or dense wood. Unlike other primers, METAL EFFECTS® PRIMER does not allow the activator or patinas to penetrate the substrate. This would change the desired patina color on these materials and spoil the finish, causing rust or tannins on the surface. METAL EFFECTS® PRIMER can be applied with a brush, roller, or spray gun to interior and exterior surfaces. When applying to iron or steel, scale should be removed beforehand. Ensure surfaces are dry, firm, and free of any contaminants. On smooth surfaces (galvanized steel, stainless steel, or aluminum), before applying METAL EFFECTS® PRIMER, a primer that ensures good adhesion to the substrate should be applied, such as Aqua Primer (ref. 12-830). For other surfaces (cement, plaster, etc.), apply Aqua Primer (ref. 12830) directly.
